When entering into a social setting, stand straight. It makes you look taller, and perceivably more confident. Ditto for hands in your pocket – don’t. Hands have their own unique body language (which we will cover in the coming articles), and by hiding them, you’re covering up your emotions.
When talking to her, lean back. Why? Because this communicates that you’re doing the listening, and she’s doing the talking. If you ever get to observe a social artist in action, he never leans in, especially when initiating a conversation.
If you appear calm to someone, you are calm to them. Use slower movements and don’t fidget with your hands. This include touching your face, hair or any part of your body unnecessarily.
Never hold up a glass, a book, or anything for that matter in front of you. It looks old peopl-ish, and by hiding your body from view, you’re creating an image of insecurity. It’ll also make your body language stiff and restricted, instead of fluid and open.
